About Fernandes Education Advocates

I am Mary Fernandes, and I have over 13 years of experience as a certified special education teacher and first-hand experience as a parent navigating the IEP process, I understand how challenging it can be to advocate for your child in a system that often feels overwhelming or inaccessible.

After working both in classrooms and behind the scenes as a litigation paralegal in special education law in New York City, I founded Fernandes Education Advocates to support families in securing the services and supports their children are entitled to under the law.

I bring not only deep professional expertise, but also personal compassion and understanding. My mission is to empower families, demystify the process, and stand beside you as a strong, steady voice in the room.
